Gift to mom… at least one smile. I think we got a few. Thanks W.X. Last time we had to wrench it out of him.

The NEW Brag Book

I’ve got 11 images in this tiny thing. These are perfect for any pocket or purse and have also been seen displayed on this mom’s desk at the office.

These come in sets of three identical books. You may purchase just one little book, but the cost per book is quite a bit more. There are several cover choices (along with a faux leather). There are also several paper choices, you’ll have to ask me to see some samples of these.

I am excited to offer these since back in the day I would make accordion books for my wedding clients. I was always using nice ribbon to tie the books closed. But to keep them pretty, you’ve got to know how to tie a nice bow, and never ever tie a tight knot. I was always trying to think of an alternative. Velcro, or something more stream-lined. These babies use magnets and clamp shut on their own. Very cool.

As with most things I make, each set of mini albums will be slightly customized. I’ll be adding something pretty to the front of each. Like this fleur de lis. It helps to know which side is up.

To the Dogs

I had a great time this afternoon with these guys.  Oh, and the people were nice too.  After almost an entire week of sub zero weather, we could actually go outside without jackets.  That’s Denver for ya.  The sun is out and the temperature is up.  Thank goodness it hadn’t been warm long enough for the snow to melt.

I don’t know dogs very well, but these three were beautiful… if only a bit young and restless.  I know what that’s all about.  I have three who are equally tireless… although of the human kind.

We began tame, trying to get the obligatory family portrait done before we let loose.

I love this one.  Yup. we live in the West.  The red sand proves it.

So sweet.  This little girl has lots of energy… made me wish I was a dog whisperer.

Before the Storm

I got so excited Monday evening when the clouds rolled in and the sky became a beautiful backdrop for my shoot. This family was so fun to photograph. I’d turn from photographing one of the kids to find mom and sis making faces and doing silly things to make bro laugh. Rather than cringe about having their pictures taken, they all embraced it. I love that!

Out and About

Spring is a time when families get back together.  Kids are out of school and return home for a little R&R. It was great to see this family all together with the eldest home from his 1st year of college. We wanted to get a great family portrait and a few of the boys… especially the eldest at this time of his life.

Curly Locks

The other day I put pin curls in India’s hair.  After a day of wearing them, we took them out.  This is what unraveled.

All the way from Argentina

Our neighbors have had family in town for awhile and wanted to mark the occasion with some portraits. I am so happy they chose me to photograph them. We love living so close to such a wonderful family and can’t wait to have our girls go to school together.

Let’s go someplace different…

So we did. Every time I see a building with a cool texture or color or pattern I want to photograph at that spot. Saturday this little fam was game for anything. We headed to two of the places I keep seeing. Can’t wait to go to the other spots on my list.
This little guy was so happy and friendly. When I asked for a mean face he got very confused. He’s such a nice kid he hasn’t ever used a mean face.

We’re a Happy Family

me, mom, and daddy… sorry The Ramones just swim around in my brain sometimes. If you head over to their site you can rock to some tunes. Although only the first line of this song applies to this happy family.
They had a great day. Adoption papers signed and day in court over and done. After all that, it was time for a little hike and some photos to help remember this day. The only thing that could put a damper was the 93 degree weather. Everyone toughed it out and we got a bit of cloud cover at just the right times. We were blessed, in more ways than one.

Old Neighbors

First, the twins.  Super cute and very different from each other.  One like mom, one like dad.  The most bizarre thing was, they live across the street from some friends who had just moved back to JP about a year ago.  We were at their house for dinner the night before and back the next day only across the street.  The kids wanted to go back and play with the bigger kids after our visit with the babies.  Too bad school was still in session.

Then we headed to Brookline to visit our other neighbor.  She got married and had a baby since we had seen her last.  She used to spoil India with all sorts of candy that our picky little one sometimes ate.  Thankfully India remembered her old pal and the kids had fun playing with baby B and his toys.

I can’t wait to photograph this little guy again.  I guess once we make it back to Boston, he’ll be a bit older.  Maybe he’ll even have a sibling??

The Green House

Ahhh, the Green House.  We love staying at the Green House.  Our friends there are so great.  The kids have fun playing and we get to relive our time in Boston.  It is just down the street from our old place, after all.  I will miss visiting them once they have moved back to Switzerland.  I guess we’ll just have to visit them there!

It’s hard to tell here, but she’s expecting her fourth.

just like old times.  These two had a blast together.

He keeps going & going & going…

Kids have all the energy.  Some of this spit-fire redhead’s excitement rubbed off on me.  I came back to the hotel very happy, if not a little exhausted.  I only hope some of his energy rubs off on his parents.

It is so exciting to see my past wedding clients… with their kids.  This is the first of 3 families I was able to reconnect with while in Boston.

Ahhhh….

I love to photograph. It is so fun to discover a new place and make something beautiful. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve had to get creative in my own home lately. Thankfully this great family invited me to photograph them, giving me a chance to get out and about. Yeah!

Clowning

6_07clown3876.jpg
India spent a week learning how to be a clown at a summer day camp. She painted her own face, learned to make balloon animals and I just found out that she road on a unicycle. The things I learn when my daughter is talking with strangers.
The funny thing is, now, instead of wanting to be a scientist like her daddy she wants to be a clown when she grows up. Does a clown have flexible hours. If so that’s a great career choice!

We are moving

Zach received an awesome job offer from a cochlear implant company near Denver. The offer was up in the air for what seemed like forever and it was finalized the first week of March. We put our place on the market last week and it has gone under contract after only 24 hours. We are sad to be leaving after such a brief stay in Baltimore. With everything moving so smoothly, it must be for the best.
Where are we moving? -to Denver. We’re excited because it sounds like people spend a lot of time outside. I am especially excited to begin photographing the desert again. Hopefully I can find some old, derelict buildings out there. But I must admit that I am a bit fearful that everything is new out there. Hopefully we can stay away from the California suburb type neighborhoods. Schools are a big factor for our decision, and the burbs have good ones. We’ll just have to find an area that we are comfortable with.
This is a photo I took of our current home in all its glory. More updates soon:

At the Arboretum

If you have not had a chance to visit the Cylburn Arboretum in Baltimore you should get out there while the days are still warm.  I can’t believe Baltimore weather.  It’s the end of November and we keep getting 60 degree days.  Amazing.

Anyway, this family braved a pretty cold morning to get these photographs.  They caught me just before I left on my week long excursion to Virgina.  I love the bamboo forest!

Bean Town Reunion Tour

We headed north to our favorite city.  One that we like to call home.  We may both have been born and raised in California but we call the birthplace of our favorite daugher home.  I love that dirty water!  Boston you’re my home.

Ok, ok.  Enough with song quoting.  On to the photos.  I was honored to photograph this newbie.  She was born only 3 weeks before.  I must say, my trip was timed well.

Then, later in the day I visited with this family and captured a little one almost the same age as my little guy.

How cool it is to see my couples again… and with kids!  I may be a documentary photographer and capture real life but really, what is real about a wedding day?  The white dress, the up-doo, the guys in tuxes; nothing average or normal.  I really enjoyed capturing a day in the life of the people I had only previously captured the most extraordinary day.   As Sarah said; “in our natural habitat”.  A great time.  Stay tuned, a future trip is in the works!

In the City

I love Hampden.  We tried really hard to get a place there… in the one weekend we had to find a place.  That’s my life: every weekend booked through the fall.  Being booked typically isn’t a problem;)  I love what I do!  We just like to live under-the-gun so made our move date be November 4th with my last wedding being October 8th.  Ahh, my last wedding in Boston, what a wonderful day… bitter sweet.  Luckily we found a great realitor who made everything work in one weekend.

Since we don’t live in Hampden, I can at least live vicariously through my clients… and Hairspray.  We had lots of fun exploring this street.  We found a skanky, old bench and a great stone church wall.

Shhhh!

This is a surprise birthday present for these boys’ mom.  I had a blast photographing these guys; lots of laughter, silliness, and energy.  These are the things that make a great photograph.

This is the perfect gift.  What a great idea and quite a step up from the “to the best mom” statues I used to give!  I can’t wait to get mine.  I think Zach’ll need a nudge in a few years to get him to act… But who would he hire??  HA!

Just to keep you updated, my foot has been deemed ‘cured’.

D.C. Portrait

I love when I am honored to photograph my friends.  This was an extra special shoot since they traveled all the way from Boston!  It was also fun since we got a chance to visit and see DC from the windows of this beautiful penthouse apartment.  Gorgeous!!

We miss you guys, but look forward to the next visit.

Best friends forever!
