Here are a few more from Virginia. We miss you guys!

My cute nieces and nephews.
This trip to California was full of catching up. Not only was I able to photograph my nephew, I photographed my sister Teri and Joe… oh, and their monkey babies.
We headed to the beach since Teri has been a surfer forever. Apparently we went to the dog beach… since Jo loves animals, or animals love him. Whichever. It was amazing to see the dogs come and hang with him for a bit then move on. Really obvious that they like him. Me, I just asked that they didn’t sniff or slobber. I’m a wimp.

The monkeys.
I was finally able to photograph my nephew a few days after his 3rd birthday. Can you believe I have never photographed him? It pains me greatly. It pains me more to see the photos my sister will send of him from Sears or with Santa. Kill me now
So finally, finally I was able to get a few shots of him.
We headed to the San Juan Mission, not realizing there was a pretty steep entrance fee. So rather than split our group up or fork out the $60 to get us all in we just tooled around town and spent a lot of time watching the train.
The boy truly felt the freedom of a day with his cousins. Much of the time was spent running from the adults, and my camera. This is a work in progress with this little man. You cannot escape Aunt Stacie. Even with an elusive subject I feel I got several really nice portraits of this kid.
I also got a few of my sister. It has been a long time since I had photographed her. In high school she was my favorite model. Once in college I missed being able to photograph her at a whim. It’s good to stretch those creative muscles, but it’s also difficult when you don’t know anyone. I began asking random people if I could photograph them… not a good idea in a dark club. The guy who looked like Matt Damon really didn’t once in the studio. Oh well. Those were the days.

Not much more to say. Will return soon. Most likely won’t be checking email. But will be answering my phone… sometimes.
This guys favorite things. He was happiest walking around on his own. Especially happy when he got to pet a dog. And just about everything we had him lean against, sit on, or stand near had to be hit several times.
Enjoy some of this little man’s love for life

When I saw these guys from across the Public Garden, I knew it was Em and Tim. Pink, that is their hallmark color. Emily had chosen pink for her wedding and I just love the images that came from that. Check out their album here.
How could I ever imagine any other color for their precious little girl? We headed straight for the angel to photograph this little angel.

Kids have all the energy. Some of this spit-fire redhead’s excitement rubbed off on me. I came back to the hotel very happy, if not a little exhausted. I only hope some of his energy rubs off on his parents.
It is so exciting to see my past wedding clients… with their kids. This is the first of 3 families I was able to reconnect with while in Boston.

We had a blast in Boston. I really miss being in such a cool city. Although we are becoming aware of the cool things about Denver. It just seems like all those huge trees and the farms so close to the city are things only the East has.
Oh, and the best pizza on the planet is in the North End; Pizza Regina. A great description of that spot here. It was nice to see the familiar waitresses, made us feel like we never left. Not that they recognized us… even if they did, they’d never admit it.
We also visited all our old haunts in Jamaica Plain and saw some of our great friends there. We even visited our friend’s community garden patch and picked 4lbs. of strawberries out of a 2×3′ patch. Amazing!
India even went on a camp-out with her friend’s grandparents. Ok, it was in an RV. But still, who would have guessed she could have squeezed in a camp-out on our Boston trip? Good times, great memories. Makes me want to return home.
Here’s one image from our stay in Boston. Stay tuned for more…

Public Garden
Ahhh, we are heading back to Boston in June. I can’t wait. We will visit friends, hit Pizza Regina, and introduce Ezra to Boston and Jamaica Plain.
I will also be photographing. I am almost booked up but have 2 openings; one on Thursday the 12th in the evening and the second on Saturday the 14th in the morning, both in the Public Garden or Beacon Hill. Let me know if you would like to book me.

These were both taken for Red Wagon at the Public Garden. Red Wagon is still the coolest children’s boutique I know.

I love these shots. These were taken at the Amory St. park in Brookline for my client’s graduation. Such a beautiful place. If you ever get a chance, you need to visit this park. It has a wooden path which winds around the pond. There are also several paths leading to hidden beauties in the garden. There is even an old moss covered gazebo in one of the corners. An ideal spot. I am feeling home sick!
After 8 days on a cruise I brought home a few Mexican treasures and took some pretty cool photographs. My most memorable keepsake is the extra 6 lbs floating around my abdomen. I think a cruise could be a life changing event… for the worst. Great way to relax, but it seemed there was a meal every 2 hours! Suck it up for another trip to the dining room! Too bad I only made it to the last yoga class… but now, I’ve got yoga on tivo from PBS… they are only 15 minutes long, perfect amount of time for any busy mom.
Here are a few photos from Zihuateanejo… or Zihuat as my sis would say. Zach’s brother and I went on a photo excursion there. The kids were with daddy while Noah and I walked farther into the city where there are fewer gringos.

Zihuateanejo is historically a fishing town. There were so many pelicans I couldn’t believe it. But there weren’t any scavenger birds. No seagulls to eat that bit of muffin Ezra dropped in the sand. Amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a beach without seagulls.
Notice the ship in the background? That’s the one we came in on.

Any and all toy cars, Ezra HAD to jump in. Too bad we didn’t have any pesos at this point. He would have loved this car to move.

I love, love, love this shot. I really want it huge for our wall. Not sure what Zach would think… but I love it!

I love the human element in this one. Another for our walls, I hope.

Aren’t the colors just awesome. Most of the images I took in Mexico had to do with color. So many beautiful colors to see. They were really speaking to me.

Ahhh, Mexico.

We kept seeing this green-blue unfinished metal. Very beautiful.
We haven’t seen this entire family since Boston ’03. We’ve had nice visits with the parents here and there, but we haven’t even met the baby or seen the kids. It was so great to reconnect and photograph these guys! The last time I had the honor was the day before they moved and on our front steps. This shoot took place in Dad’s old stomping grounds in Salt Lake City; right down the street from his childhood home. Much more appropriate, if not at their house… next time we’ll have to go to your house!
Thank you for a fantastic Thanksgiving. It was great getting to know all the kids. Since we love the parents so much, I know we’ll love the kids as they get older and funnier. This visit we really only got a tiny taste of what’s to come.

At grandma’s house with the awesome chalkboard in the solarium.

On the way to the park.

After a couple shots the little girl decided she had had enough and began blowing spit bubbles. When caught, she put on this super cute stone-face which I know she gets from Mom.

We had a blast with this guy for a few days out there in Tooele, UT near Salt Lake City. With a Nemo room, a huge train set, a beautifully painted bedroom, and some of the nicest hosts how could we not enjoy ourselves? Thanks for a wonderful week of relaxation and fun.
The kids and I spent the week with family and friends we haven’t seen for a number of years. We also visited the BYU campus. The kids were dragged on a fruitless search for where mommy learned to become a photographer. Things have changed there and since it was the week of Thanksgiving no one was around. Some things never change.
We did get to see Zach’s oboe teacher. She got to meet the kids for the first time. That was really neat. We also spoke with a photo student who was lugging around a coffin case filled with lights. I empathized with her, but really couldn’t offer her a hand… what with 2 kids in tow. It was nice to see some part of the photo program there… if only one person.
We also got to visit with photographer Jonathan Canlas. We popped in with a 20 minute heads-up phone call. He and his wife graciously let the kids blow off some steam, talk shop with me, and show me around the house. Pretty awesome set-up. They’ve got 4 kids; a room for each of them, a client room and an office. Not to mention an Ikea practically across the street. The mountains and the Ikea both made me want to move there. Well, maybe just buy a huge truck to schlep back a few shelving units. They now have zebra wood-like cabinets. I need them!
Every year I return to California to visit family. This year I would love to work.  I enjoyed my reunion tour to Boston so much that I would like to do something similar in California. I think one of my first couples lives in the Valley and just had triplets. Wouldn’t that be fun!? Umm, to photograph.
The date is still up in the air. Sometime in January or February. I’ll let you know.
One from Thanksgivng.Â
